There have been and still are many theories regarding the demise of the dinosaurs some 125,000,000 years ago, the most popular today being that of something very large hitting the Earth with devastating effect. But what I have never seen debated is what seems to be to the experts the not so obvious fact that it must have permanently changed the very environment itself, because it must indeed have changed dramatically or there would be giants around today.

Why do I say this? Simple. Dinosaurs did come in many shapes and sizes, but they are famed for being huge and it is said that today no creature can get larger than an elephant due to feeding needs, gravity level and oxygen levels. Larger creatures do grow and live in the sea, such as the Blue Whale with just their heart as big as an elephant, but they are supported by the water and are feeding just by swimming along sucking food in all the time.

Why is it that dinosaurs and the plant life in those days was so huge then, and the plant life possibly more nutritious? (It had to be or such creatures could never have eaten fast enough to get what they needed!) My theory is that gravity was lower, and oxygen levels were higher. Perhaps the weather was more stable also and generally warmer. Somehow it seems so obvious.
So whatever it was that hit the Earth 125,000,000 years ago must have had such an impact that it actually stripped away some of the oxygen-carrying air and was perhaps made of iron and hit so hard is now part of the core adding to the gravity-creating iron already there, and therefore increasing the gravity to the level it is today.

It’s a thought …
